Company’s Comin’

by Lori Towner 11/22/2017

I just heart company’s comin’

I guess I’d better get busy.

My home is so messy

It’s put me in a tizzy!

There are floors to mop

Dusting to do

Carpets to vacuum

And cobwebs too.

Laundry to fold

And then put away

I waited so long

It’ll take me all day.

Windows to wash.

Floorboards to scrub

Sinks that are grimy

And oh that tub!!!

Now I must hurry

Why did I wait?

It is my own fault

I always procrastinate!

I think to myself

I have plenty of time

But often in life

Things change on a dime.

Now this got me pondering

Is my spiritual house clean?

Have I been reading the Word?

There’s so much to glean!

Do I spend time in prayer,

Or listen to His voice?

Some days yes, some days not,

But it’s definitely always my choice.

When I make mistakes

Do I repent and ask for forgiveness?

He wipes away my sins

He loves me no less.

I don’t know the day when Jesus will come,

But I do know this

It will be the one day

His company, I won’t want to miss!

Matthew 25:13

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Vision

By Walter Rau  Nov. 2017

Simeon had a vision to see the Messiah come.

Abraham’s vision was to completely obey the Holy One

Noah’s vision was to build an Ark when there was no rain

And Joshua’s vision was to march around the walls and not refrain

David’s vision was to see the victory knowing the battle was won.

While Enoch was taken by the Lord , and His vision was on the Son.

But, Moses’ vision was to see the captives be set free

And Jesus’ vision was to obey the Father, and on the third day have victory.

I Love The Lord

By Doug Towner

Written 06/14/2003

I love the Lord my God, the one who reigns from above.

In Him do I trust, the one who is full of love.

He has been so good to me.

Faithful in all His ways to me.

He’s patient and kind.

And always easy on my mind.

I love Him more than words can tell.

Saved my soul and spared me hell.

He keeps me safe by day and night,

Protecting me with His might.

His name is Jehovah, God.

I love the Lord, my God.

Just As You And I

By Doug Towner

Date unknown

Jesus Came from above

And was born as a babe

Just as you and I

He lived on the earth

And faced the problems of life

Just as you and I

Jesus died at Calvary

And rose victorious

Just for you and I

Now in heaven He is

Awaiting that day to return

To meet you and I

MY DADDY’S SHOES

By Lori Towner

I love to ware my Daddy’s shoes, they look so big on me.

When I start to walk around in them, how silly I must be!

I might not get them on just right; they usually look all wrong.

But once I start to walk in them, I start to sing a song.

I sing about my daddy’s love. Oh, how I love him so!

He gives me lots of hugs and kisses; he says it’s love that makes me grow.

I asked, “Daddy, where does love come from? “

He knelt down, held me close, than looked up to the sky;

He said, “son, to have this kind of love, someone had to die.”

“Death on the cross is what Jesus did choose;

And since He died for us, now we must fill His shoes.

Now every time I wear my Daddy’s shoes, it makes me think of love;

Not only of my Daddy, but my heavenly Father up above.

My Church Cares

By Doug Towner

(as a teenager)

My church cares about me.

It wants the best for me.

The church teaches me the things I should know

and helps to direct my life.

My church cares about each other.

It works together to help each other.

It trusts each other

and encourages one another

And in this way, helps to make the church better.

My church cares about the community and the people in it.

It tells others about God in word and actions.

Helping people in their time of need

is another way my church shows it’s love and says it cares.

This is my idea of a church that cares.

My church cares, does yours?

Trials - Temptations - Joy - Peace

Nolan Towner 2005

When enjoying life, there are many trials and temptations, which come our way. Everything you do on this earth is an example to others of how a Christian acts. I believe that it is important that you remember this everywhere you go. If you do something wrong, tell others that you are sorry and that it was just a silly mistake and most importantly remember to ask God for forgiveness. Everyone in the world is tempted to do wrong things. That fact is just a part of human nature. But, if you spend time thinking abut doing something wrong, that is a sin. Jesus was the only perfect human ever, and none of us can be perfect, so live your life, and if you goof, ask for forgiveness and then move on.

On His Way To The Cross

By Douglas Stephen Towner 1975

God’s love for us was so great

That He sent His only son

Into the world He did come

Jesus was born in Bethlehem

From afar they came to see

The babe in the manger

Who was to go to the cross

The king wanted to kill this babe

So to Egypt Jesus was taken

For He was to go to the cross

Jesus was a carpenter that is true

He also spoke of God

And His love for you

Satan tempted Jesus

To give Him the world if He knelt

Jesus yielded not

For the world to Him belonged

Twelve disciples Jesus did choose

Perfect these disciples were not

But with God’s help

Follow they did

The one who was to go to the cross

Feeding the five thousand

With one boy’s lunch

Was one of the many miracles He had done

While on His way to the cross

The disciples were with Jesus

At the last supper

There the first communion was

While Jesus was on His way to the cross.

Jesus knew Peter was to deny

Three times knowing of Him

While Jesus was on His way to the cross

Jesus prayed to His Father

That He shall, if it must be done

While on His way to the cross

Crucify! Crucify! the people did yell

But Jesus had done no wrong

Pilot washed His hands

Trying to clear himself

While Jesus was on His way to the cross

Through the city and up the hill

To put to rest the cross He bore

Jesus knew what was to happen

nails were to be driven

Through His hands and feet

Into the cross

A crown of thorns were to be placed

To dig and scratch into His head

While knowing, on His way to the cross

People would mock and spit in His face

A thief on His right not believing would say

Get us down if you can

The one on His left knew of Jesus innocence

He asking forgiveness

Died believing to go to heaven.

What pain, what sorrow

This must have been

Seeing people denying and torturing

The one who came to save the world

Until finally one person, the first,

The thief on His left

Excepted this gift of salvation

Jesus then, must have felt much joy

Jesus was to be buried

But also to rise

Many wouldn’t believe

But on the third day He arose

To His disciples He would go

They looked at His hands, feet, and side

Saying that He’s for me

Disciples watching the Savior

Saw Jesus rise into heaven

Remembering He said He was to return

While on His way to the cross

Jesus knew the future

He must of had some sorrow

But joy when He thought of the theif on the left

And knowing He was doing God’s will

That it was for you and I

When knowing Jesus suffered for me

With His hands of scare open for me

Inviting me

I then realize that I too must go to the cross to accept

The Question is WHO?
By Walter Rau (2019)
Who am I in Christ?
One who works by faith, and not by sight
Who am I in Christ?
One who shines the light
Though there be darkness
all around on this rock I am found
Who am I in Christ?
A victor by His blood
Who am I in Christ?
One who walks in love,
and one who will be with my heavenly Father up above
Hand Of Mercy
by Walter Rau
The heart of God is a heart of mercy
His out stretched hand in time of need,
A healing hand to a hurting land
A hand of deliverance for the bound
A hand of love to the lost, but, new found
A hand of compassion to the unjust
A nail scared hand upon the cross
A hand of forgiveness for our sins
A hand of restoration that puts new life within
The hand of mercy from God above
can change a heart to flesh- that once was stone
So I rejoiced with a joy that I never had before
with a hope where there once was none
that I knew came from the Lord Gods own son
Spring Has Sprung
by Walter Rau
The tender leaf under the sun
The flowers bloom, the rivers run
The birds are singing one by one
These are the signs that spring has sprung
The busy bee on the flower top
The furry rabbits as they hop
The sound of rain as it drops
The noise of crickets never stops
No other name under the sun
can make a season so wonderfully done
The handiwork of One Who comes
His name is Jesus, God's own Son!
Heart Condition
by Walter Rau
Do you think the Lord doesn't look at the small
Look at David next to Goliath who was very tall
But the battle was won not by his height,
but because David came in the Lord's might
For God looks at the heart not at the size
For how low is a man if he thinks that he's wise
But to humble yourself in the sight of the Lord,
is something that we all need to look for
God will choose not by looks or by height, but by the heart whether it's wrong or whether it's right
In The Garden
by Walter Rau
In the garden many seeds are sown
Some sprout up fast, some sprout up slow
As time goes on with watering and care,
The hope of the gardener is to have fruit everywhere
The fruit it grows nowhere else can be found
Hope, Joy and Peace, Love does abound
To hope in the One that we do not see,
Our joy remains in His victory
Peace in a world when all there is war
To love our neighbors like never before
But the time is soon near and this fruit will be picked
because the gardener Himself is coming back quick!
Working For The Lord
by Doug Towner  9/5/2009
It's not equal work for equal pay in God's Kingdom
We are His servants
For some the work may be hard
For others, they may receive support and applause
For some it may include martyrdom
For others, it may include wealth and status
It's not equal work for equal pay in God's kingdom
For we all receive the same pay
(eternal life with Christ and heaven)
New Year's Eve
by Janet Roseboom (2023)

It's hard to believe that this year is almost gone
and a new year is about to dawn.

As we look back and see the things that have been done
Some things were more serious, while other things were fun.

Things happening in our nation and around us have been hard to realize, but I've also seen beautiful sunsets and rainbows in the sky.

As we are now ready to enter a brand new year, we don't know what's around the corner, though we're anxious to see and hear.

Let us therefore ring in this new year with joy and anticipation of a sudden turn around towards good within our nation.

So we ask the Lord to go forth and lead the way.
And to bring us now into this brand new day.
